Taxing Times: Pre-Budget Report 2009 Yesterday, the Chancellor Alistair Darling delivered his final pre-Budget Report before the next general election. He was surprised that the economy had shrunk by more than he had forecast but this was old news for those in business. Microsoft stop distribution of Microsoft Office Accounting Software after 16 November 2009 On October 30, 2009, Microsoft will transfer customer support for Office Accounting in the UK to Mamut Software Ltd. Product support for Office Accounting will continue in accordance with the published Microsoft product support life cycle. Payroll and e-Payments add-on services for Office Accounting will be discontinued on 15 December 2009 |

What's new in Sage 50 Accounts 2010?
Sage 50 Accounts is designed to help small and growing businesses manage their finances (accounts, customers and suppliers) and is an important part of the Sage 50 Suite. Sage 50 Accounts 2010 continues the development of the market leading business software, offering considerably increased efficiency/effectiveness and reduced errors. This release has been driven by feedback from our customers
There are three key areas of development to this release:
User Experience – improvements to processes, layouts navigation and access to data including: Payment processing – ability to sort/filter, management of recurring entries Activity Screens – increased control and user definable preferences Report Selection – improved interface in line with Sage 50 suite Financial Year messages – ability to pause messages before running year-end.
Business Information Management – feature development and improvements to allow better access to and use of business information including: New file import including the ability to import .xls files VAT compliance Cash Register Bar Code generation
Integration – developments to increase efficiencies and other business information including: Improved integration with Sage Pay (formerly Protx) |

Withdrawal of support for Sage 50 Intelligent Reporting
As you may know Sage 50 Intelligent Reporting was withdrawn from sale on 24 September 2008.
As the current version of Sage 50 Intelligent Reporting is not compatible with Windows Vista, Microsoft Excel 2007, Sage 50 Accounts 2008 departmental budgets or Sage 50 Accounts 2009, Sage have also decided to withdraw support from 30 September 2010. This means that customers can continue to renew their SageCover contract until 30 September 2009, after which all renewals will stop.
No new SageCover contracts can be purchased after 30th September 2009.
